Campark Trail Camera App - How To Connect Your Phone

The wireless feature on a trail camera is one of the most useful for a number of reasons. whether it’s for retrieving images from a fixed home security camera or strapped high up in a tree for deer scouting.

Campark has a number of wireless trail cameras in their line up. The app in which they use to connect to their cameras can be a little quirky in operation shall we say.

This has led to a number of visitors of the site to email me specifically asking how to connect their camera to the app and download video and images to their phone. Hence why I have taken the time to write this guide on the matter.

Different Types Of Wireless Connections

The camera I have used as the main example here is the Campark T80 which is WiFi only. The T90 model also has WiFi only connection. The T90 does however use a different app to the one we are going to use as a demonstration purpose in this article.

Having said that a basic knowledge of the app shown here will help in understanding any of the applications as they all work in a very similar way.

I’ve mentioned the 2 WiFi only camera models in the Campark range. The following models are both Bluetooth and WiFi connection and require both connected to the app for full functionality.

  • T85
  • T86
  • T100

Connecting The Trail Camera To Your Phone

Start by making sure your WiFi setting for your smartphone is switched “ON”.

menu keypad

Position the 3 way power switch [1] to the middle setting followed by pressing the “UP” arrow key [2] to activate the wireless hotspot in the trail camera.

Take your smartphone and navigate to the WiFi network selection list in your phones settings. You should see the name of the Campark camera appear in the list.

Select the Campark SSID name in the WiFi networks list and enter the password “12345678” and press “Join”

The trail camera is now connected to your phone. Let’s now take a look at the smartphone app side of the connection.

Camera App Connections Explained

Open the app and follow the on screen instructions. If your camera has Bluetooth as well as WiFi you can switch the phone’s Bluetooth “ON” and select the trail camera in the devices list.

The first screen that we see when the app is launched is the image on the left.

  1. Select this option to view videos and images already downloaded locally to your phone.
  2. If you have a Bluetooth camera model then you can switch on the Bluetooth  using this option.
  3. For those with WiFi only cameras such as the T80 skip this option to to the next step.

If your camera is WiFi only such as with the T80 camera model there is no need to switch Bluetooth to “ON” as the WiFi hotspot has full control of the camera without the need for an additional Bluetooth connection.

Now you have connected the camera to the app, you will see a live video feed from the camera lens, plus a number of settings as part of the app’s user interface. Let’s now take a look at those settings.

App Settings & Menu Options

  1. Press this icon to enter the image library for both local images, plus files stored on the SD card of the trail camera.
  2. This is the record button to capture what the camera lens is viewing at that moment, this is represented by the live feed from the camera lens directly above.
  3. The cog icon takes you to all the camera settings that you will also find in the actual internal camera menu.
  4. These 2 toggle switches alow you to switch between recording modes, from video to still pictures.

Local & Device Storage

app user interface

This is the screen that wll appear once you have selected the deer icon [1] in the previous menu options.

1. This toggle switch allows you to view either video or still images, currently showing video stored on the trail cameras SD card.

2. Device indicates that you are currently viewing images stored on the camera or device as its called. The White arrow highlights this. If you select Local you will be able to view images downloaded onto your phone and watch or view in full resolution.

3. The 3 icons are for downloading to your phone, a bin icon and select all.

4. The green icons indicate that the video file is selected for download. Use the share icon in the top right corner to download to your phone.

The Campark T100 uses a slightly different app. If you watch the video below it will help you navigate through the connection process for the application.

Wireless Menu Options

Lastly, I just want to go over some of the cameras internal menu functions in regards to wireless connectivity.

wifi menu screen

Navigate to the cog icon (Seen highlighed in blue at the top of the screen). You’ll find 3 settings in relation to wireless connection.

The WiFI SSID option allows you to change the name of the wireless hotspot. I’d only suggest doing this if you have one or more cameras running at the same time so you can tell them apart.

The password is set to 1-8 from the factory. Its not a bad idea to set a different password if you think there’s a chance someone will connect to the hotspot.

Auto WiFi Off gives you the option of the camera switching off the hotspot after 1 – 3 minutes. It does this to save battery power.

Use the handheld remote to switch the hotspot back on when you wish to reconnect with the trail camera.
