Toguard Trail Camera Reviews

This Toguard trail camera review takes a look at 3 cameras accross the current range offered by Toguard.

All the cameras come with a list of extras including a nylon tree strap, metal mounting bracket, USB cable, plus an instruction manual.

You just need a standard size SD card and 4 to 8 AA batteries to get started.

Toguard H20 16 Megapixel Trail Camera

Upgrade- TOGUARD Mini Trail Camera 16MP 1080P Game Camera 2” LCD Small Hunting Trap Camera with IR Night Vision 120° Wide Angle Waterproof Video Camera for Wildlife Monitoring and Home Observation

The unique feature of the Toguard H20 is its small size. The camera is tiny as you can see from the picture above, fitting into the palm of a hand in most cases.

What advantage does a smaller trail camera have you may ask? Well, the most obvious one is that it’s more discreet, havng a smaller footprint when strapped to a tree. Ideal for placing onto public land or as a security camera around a property.

For its size the H20 is well specced. It records video at 1080p and takes still images up to 16 megapixels. Be aware that the 16MP size advertised is actually using interpolation to achieve this size image, which is the case for almost all trail cameras these days.

Opening the clamshell case via the large single clip reveals a 2 inch color LCD screen, plus a keypad, above which is the battery compartment, taking 4 x AA batteries.

In terms of performance the camera is very good, particularly during the daytime. Night-time images are good quality also but do tend to be over bright when triggered very close up, so some thought on camera placement is need to avoid this.

Toguard H20 Summary

This is a great little trail cam for using in the backyard or garden.

I’d also suggest using this cam as part of a deer scouting setup if you’re considering buying multiple cameras to keep costs down.

Toguard H70 20 Megapixel Trail Camera

TOGUARD Trail Camera 20MP 1080P Game Cameras with Night Vision 2.4" LCD 130° Detection Motion Activated Waterproof Deer Trap Cam for Hunting and Wildlife Monitoring

Compared to the other 2 cameras this is very much the “workhorse” of the 3 trail cameras in this review comparison.

The H70 has the widest detection zone at 130 degrees, plus the longest detection range at 75 feet compared to the other cameras. This means it’s more suited to deer scouting.

In real world setups I’d say this trail cam matches the 75 feet claim made by Toguard and some. The battery life is pretty good also. You should see at least a month of use out of a set of 8 x AA lithium batteries with moderate to high captures onto the standard size SD card.

Like the H85 it’s bigger brother which we’ll take a look at further into this article. The H70 does have a full size menu keypad along with a 2 inch color screen which provides a live feed from the camera lens when setting up in situ.

Toguard H70 Summary

In summary the H70 is a “no frills” trail camera with a decent specification, backed up with quality video and still picture performance.

Unlike the other 2 trail cams in this review there isn’t any real standout features to shout about, it’s just a solid trail cam.

Toguard H85 WiFi Bluetooth Trail Camera

TOGUARD Upgraded Trail Camera WiFi Bluetooth 20MP 1296P Hunting Game Camera with 120° Monitoring Angle with Motion Activated Night Infrared Vision Waterproof Outdoor Scouting Game Camera

As you can see from the title of this model from Toguard the H85 is able to connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth & WiFi. This is a very useful feature to have as I’ll go into below.

The wireless connection allows you to operate this camera fully upto 70 feet away. It also gives you the opportunity to download video and still pictures onto your smartphone too.

Being able to access the camera’s menu and SD card means you don’t have to climb up a tree or physically touch the camera leaving scent behind for deer and other animals to pick up. It also means the H85 is ideal as a home security camera.

In every other aspect the H85 is a fully specced modern trail camera with various record modes to choose from including time-lapse, video + stills, video or still picture modes.

Don’t let the many features of this camera put you off as it’s very easy to set up both the camera itself and the free downloadable app for both ios and android smartphones.

Toguard H85 Summary

This is my personal favorite trail camera currenty from Toguard.

The wireless connection works very well making this camera a whole lot of fun to use.
