SPYPOINT Solar Trail Camera 12MP

SPYPOINT Solar Trail Camera 12MP
Specification- 12 Megapixel
- 1920 x 1080 Full HD Videos with Sound
- Up to 32GB SD Memory Card
- 0.07 Second Trigger Speed
- 90 ft. Flash Range
- 75 ft. Detection Range
- lithium battery powered by solar panel
As the name suggests this trail cameras standout feature is the solar panel at the top of the camera housing. The camera comes with an internal lithium battery that recharges via the solar panel.
Prior to setting the camera up to record wildlife images, you will need to charge the battery using the USB lead supplied, then your good to go.
The solar panel works well in shaded areas and I’ve heard other users having their Spypoint solar trail cam run for over a year with no battery problems or power issues.
Detection circuit
With the camera powered up. Now lets take a look at the impressive detection circuit.
The trigger speed is advertised at 0.07 seconds, which is even faster than some of the Browning trail cams, which are renowned for being super quick.
I do find it difficult to believe this Spypoint is quite as fast as stated in the spec, but there’s no doubt that its super fast at triggering the recording of images and video when detecting movement in front of the PIR.
The super fast trigger speed is also matched by an impressive detection range of 75 feet, plus a night time flash range of 90 feet.
As you’ll see from the picture above, the 2 inch LCD menu screen is located on the back panel of the camera. This makes it a lot easier to point the camera lens at the desired target area.
Overall the camera is easy to set up with an array of picture burst modes and settings.

SPYPOINT Link Micro with 16GB MicroSD
Last update on 2024-10-06 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API
SPYPOINT Link Micro
Specification- 10 Megapixel
- Up to 32GB Micro SD Memory Card
- 80 ft. Flash Range
- 80 ft. Detection Range
- 8 AA Batteries
Spypoint advertise this camera as the smallest cellular trail camera on the market, and one of the most affordable too. The downside to this, the camera only records still pictures. There is no video mode.
Having said that, the pictures are excellent quality, both day and night.
The camera is physically tiny, with dimensions of 3.1″ W X 4.4″ H X 2.2″ D. Being this small means that its easier to conceal either on public land or in use as a security camera on your property.
SD card size
The camera being so small only accepts micro SD cards. Spypoint have also supplied the camera with a 16GB micro SD to get you started. It will however accept up to a 32GB size card, which I would recommend you use.
Detection circuit
The Link Micro has a decent detection specification. A trigger speed of 0.5 seconds is reasonably fast and in practice captures most fast moving game animals. The detection range is around 80 feet, along with a flash range to match.
The camera comes with a SIM card installed that will connect to any 4G network in the United States.
Data plans and camera configuration is managed using the free to download app from Spypoint.

SPYPOINT FORCE-DARK Trail Camera
Last update on 2024-10-06 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API
SPYPOINT FORCE-DARK Trail Camera
Specification- 12 Megapixel
- 1080P HD Videos - No Sound
- Up to 32GB SD Memory Card
- 80 ft. Flash Range
- 110 ft. Detection Range
- 8 AA Batteries
The Spypoint Force-Dark trail camera is a budget trail camera with a specification to match trail cams costing far more.
There are no fancy features to this trail camera, it’s all about raw performance of capturing quality pictures both day and night. There is also a video mode too on this particular Spypoint trail cam.
Pictures are recorded using a 12 megapixel image processor. The colour reproduction is good for daytime pictures and the night time pictures are clear and sharp for a trail camera.
Detection circuit
To go along with the quality pictures, the detection circuit is very good too.
Trigger speed is super fast at 0.07 seconds and the detection range is a massive 100 feet, coupled with an 80 feet flash range. The flash is of the invisible (No Glow) type, hence “Dark” in the title.
This level of detection performance is almost unseen for a trail camera at this level of budget.
Overall, if your looking for a budget trail camera the Force-Dark is worth taking a close look at.

SPYPOINT FORCE-20 Trail Camera 20MP
Last update on 2024-10-06 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API
SPYPOINT FORCE-20 Trail Camera 20MP
Specification- 20 Megapixel
- 720P HD Videos
- Up to 32GB SD Memory Card
- 70 ft. Detection Range
- 8 AA Batteries
The Force 20 is another budget trail camera in the Spypoint range. The number 20 in the name denotes the size of the cameras image sensor.
If your looking for higher resolution still pictures, then the Force-20 makes a better choice over the previous trail camera reviewed, the Dark-Force trail cam.
This camera comes bundled with a USB SD card reader, 16GB SD card, plus a tree strap (as do all of the cameras in this review).
Performance
The still pictures are high resolution and very good quality for a trail camera. The downside is that video only 720P resolution. I’d suggest looking at the Dark-Force trail camera if you prefer your scouting to be on video instead of still pictures.
The detection circuit, like all Spypoint cameras is very good. Again, this camera will trigger in the super fast time of 0.07 seconds. Detection range is a solid 70 feet, coupled with a flash range of 80 feet.
This trail camera is great for someone who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on a camera and wants to get up and running quickly with the bundled extras in the deal.

Final Thoughts
The solar powered trail camera is ideal for people looking to leave the camera in a fixed location for a very long time.
The Cellular option, The Link Micro is ideal for remote scouting as it will send pictures to your smartphone quickly via the 4G network.
Lastly there are 2 budget trail camera options. The Spypoint Force-20 being the better option for still pictures and the Dark-Force for HD video scouting.
