GoPro Hero 9 Black Battery Charger Recommendations
The feature rich GoPro Hero 9 Black has been with us for some time now and what a great little action camera it is. I often get asked about batteries for the camera and in particular battery charger recommendations for the Hero 9.
I tend to prefer the official GoPro charger over any third party chargers out there for pretty much all of the previous models prior to the Hero 9.
This time is a little different though so I’m going to recommend several alternatives to the official GoPro [1] accessory (Model – ADDBD-001). There are a number of reasons for this which I’ll go into further in this article.

New Style Charger for Hero 9 Black
Filming outdoor activity is something that I do and I know a lot of GoPro users do too as this is afterall an outdoor action camera designed mainly to record that style of footage.
If you look at the latest charger from GoPro you’ll see it has been redesigned.
Compared to the previous chargers going right back to the Hero 4 Black.
The new charger is now a lot shorter with the batteries sitting in what is more of a “cradle” which leaves most of the battery uncovered.
The longer style of the previous chargers allowed us to have 2 batteries charging from a power bank while inside a backpack or a camera bag while out hiking for example.
The shorter “cradle style” of the latest charger doesn’t really allow you to do this as the batteries do have a tendency to fall out while walking along a trail or on the go.
3rd Party Hero 9 Chargers
For this reason I have now decided to recommend several other 3rd party chargers out there that do cover the whole battery while charging, offering a more snug fit and lessening the chance of falling out.
Let’s now take a look at a couple of the best battery charging alternatives for the Hero 9 Black.
TELESIN 2-Pack Batteries and Storage USB Quick Charger
This offering from Telesin is actually a complete package so it does offer great value. As well as the charger it comes supplied with 2 extra batteries.
Remember the Hero 9 Batteries are not compatible with any other GoPro due to their larger physical size. Listed below is what comes with the Telesin quick charger.

- 2 x Batteries
- 1 x Small Carry Case,
- 2-pack Lens Screen HD Protector Film (6pcs)
- 2 x Battery Protective Case
- 1 x Type-C USB Charger Cord.
For a 3 channel charger it’s quite compact allowing for 3 batteries to be charged simultaneously.
On the front are 3 smart LED light indicators, red signifies charging and green for fully charged.

The 2 batteries are 1750 mAh in capacity taking around 2.5 hours to charge 3 batteries, which is pretty quick in my view. You can charge the official GoPro batteries as well no problem.
The lid is held in place while closed magnetically, ideal for storing your batteries while inside a camera bag when on the go. You can also store two TF size SD cards on the underside of the lid as well which is a great little feature to have.
Overall, this package from Telesin makes a lot of sense, especially for someone starting out with a new GoPro, plus the carry case is a nice addition to any accessories collection.
Artman 2-Pack Batteries, 3-Channel USB Storage Quick Charger
This package from Artman comes with 2 x 1800 mAh batteries, plus the charger only. It’s a 3 channel charger taking around 3 hours to quick charge 3 batteries which is a little slower than the Telesin.
At the front of the case are 3 LED lights that glow red to green indicating the charging status of the 3 batteries inside.
The Artman is very similar in design to the Telesin we looked at earlier.
The lid doesn’t have the TF card storage feature, but it closes with a more secure latch as opposed to a magnetic catch.
The outer shell of the case has an ergonomic style rubber coating design which makes it a great choice to store inside a daypack or camera bag in the knowledge that your 3 batteries will remain safe inside.

For those looking for several batteries and a charger without the extras then the Artman is definitely worth considering as an option to keep your Hero 9 charged while outdoors.
