Strike Force Pro XD
Last update on 2024-10-23 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API
- 24 Megapixels images
- Duel camera lens technology
- 1.5" colour viewing screen
- 1920 x 1080 HD video
- 0.1 second trigger speed
- 120 ft flash range
- Adjustable IR flash
- 80 ft detection range
- 512GB SDXC memory card
The XD Pro is the highest specification trail camera in the Strike Force range.
Browning have developed a new technology known simply as “Duel Camera Lens” and you’ll notice at the front of the camera there are 2 camera lens instead of one.
The reason for two is that one camera lens is tuned for night pictures and the other for day pictures. This results in fantastic images being recorded during both the day and night time.
In addition to the excellent picture quality, the Strike Force Pro XD comes with plenty of features, including Time-Lapse, Smart IR Video, plus Multi-Shot to name just a few.
Specification
In my view the detection circuit is very impressive, based on my own personal experience with the camera over a several month period. In fact I can’t think of another camera that offers a true 0.1 second trigger speed.
There’s a very good chance even the quickest of deer running along a trail is going to be recorded with this speed of trigger time.
Along with a top class detection circuit there is also a 24 megapixel image sensor that records Full 1080p HD video that has great colour contrast and image clarity, both day and night.
Final Thoughts
The Strike Force Pro XD really does deliver fantastic results. The video images are great quality but do take up a lot of space. However Browning have thought of that by allowing the use of 512GB SD cards
The dual lens technology and solid detection circuit make this trail camera well worth considering.
Watch the video below of video footage from my own personal XD Pro taken at night and in low light conditions to see for yourself the quality of the video the dedicated night lens delivers.

Strike Force HD Apex
Last update on 2024-10-08 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API
- 18 Megapixels images
- 6 x AA batteries
- Timelapse mode
- 1600 x 900 HD video
- 0.22 second trigger speed
- 100 ft flash range
- 80 ft detection range
- 512 GB SD memory card
The Strike Force Apex is Browning’s entry level trail camera, offering a decent detection circuit and solid quality pictures at this price point.
If you’re either new to trail cameras or using multi camera set ups with half a dozen trail cameras or more. This trail cam may just be worth considering.
Specification and performance
For an entry level trail camera a 0.22 second trigger time is very fast. At this speed you won’t miss too many fast moving bucks.
The recovery rate is reasonable at roughly 0.6 seconds . This is the time in which it takes for the camera to be primed to take another picture.
The detection range is around 80 feet with the night time infrared flash range at around 100 ft.
Overall the detection circuit and the range is more than satisfactory. This being at the budget end of trail cameras, I would say that it’s very good at this price point.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a low cost trail camera then the Strike Force Apex is well worth considering.
The detection range and battery life are very good for an entry level trail camera.
The video and picture quality at night is more than acceptable for a low cost camera, although night images could be a little better.
If you’re looking for higher quality pictures then you may have to look at one of the higher spec Browning trail cameras such as the Pro XD or Spec Ops Edge.

Browning Dark Ops Extreme
Last update on 2024-10-08 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API
- 16 Megapixels images
- 6 x AA batteries
- Timelapse mode
- 1280 x 720 HD video
- Adjustable trigger speed
- 80 ft flash range
- Invisible IR LED flash
- 90 ft detection range
- 512GB SDXC memory card
The Browning Dark Ops Extreme is priced n the middle ground. It does offer a bigger image sensor to it’s smaller brother the Force HD Apex, plus a few upgraded features as well.
So what does “Dark Ops” mean? If you’re looking for a trail camera that has an invisible infrared flash at night then the Dark Ops Extreme will do just that, no discernible sign of a flash being emitted when triggered.
Why would you need an invisible flash you may ask? Well, some game animals, such as buck deer will spook if they see / sense a lowish glow being emitted from a trail camera. This camera is what they call “covert”.
Plus there is always a slim chance someone may be standing in the area at night on public land and see the glow. So if you have these concerns then a “No Glow” trail cam will fit the bill.
This being a mid range game camera it does have a very fast trigger speed of 0.4 seconds. You can also adjust the trigger speed as well to match the environment you’re setting the camera up in.
The most impressive part of the detection circuit is the detection range of 90 feet. This is very impressive. This longer range detection is usually seen on trail cameras costing a lot more than the Dark Ops. Maybe thats why Browning called it the “Extreme”
The 16 megapixel camera produces high resolution images both day and at night time.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a mid ranged trail camera with a covert infrared flash then the Dark Ops Extreme may just the right game camera for you.
It offers solid picture quality, coupled with a great detection range and battery life.

Browning Spec Ops Edge
Last update on 2024-10-08 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API
- 20 Megapixels images
- 8 x AA batteries
- Timelapse mode
- 1920 x 1080 HD video
- Adjustable trigger speed
- 80 ft flash range
- Invisible IR LED flash
- 80 ft detection range
- 512GB SDXC memory card
Sometimes in life you get what you pay for, and in most cases trail cameras are true to this statement! And the Spec Ops Edge doesn’t disappoint.
This trail camera has all the features, but remains very well priced.
First of all the standout feature is the forward facing viewing screen. It’s a beauty as well at 2 inches in size with great colour contrast.
What the viewing screen allows you to do is see exactly what the camera lens is pointing at, so in doing so it takes away any guesswork.
The other added bonus of course is that you can play back the pictures and video on the screen when you come to collect the camera.
This is a great advantage, as you have instant feedback on the location for animal activity. This makes the decision of moving the camera to a different location an easier one.
Specification and performance
First of all, the trigger speed is adjustable between 0.4 and 0.7 seconds, so there’s plenty of scope to set up in different locations, whether it be a trail or a food plot.
The recovery time is around 0.6 seconds which is very fast. Overall the detection circuit is top notch as there is very little to be unsatisfied with.
The image sensor is a massive 20 megapixels. The Spec Ops Edge has full 1920 x 1080 HD video, so the pictures are going to look great when hooked up to your HD television.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve got the budget to spend on a game camera then the Spec Ops Edge makes a wise choice.
It’s packed with features, such as the viewing screen and covert infrared LED emitters.
All of this, combined into a robust and small case with an excellent camo finish, it really does deliver top performance from Browning.
- Feature Rich
- Quality HD Video
- Fast Trigger Speed

- Invisible “Night Vision” Infrared LED Illumination at Night

Which Is Best For You?
All of these game cameras are great cameras. It really does depend on how much you want to spend on a new trail camera.
The Dark Ops Extreme has the covert LED emitters which is a useful feature for use on public land and around nervous game animals.
The Command Ops Pro is a great little trail camera for starting out in the trail camera world. OK: it doesn’t have the best picture quality but it does a good enough job.
The Strike Force Pro XD has the best picture quality and detection circuit, but you’d expect that as it’s the most expensive.
Whichever one of these cameras you choose they should make a sensible investment and last for many seasons. Good luck out there and happy scouting

Strike Force Pro XD In-Depth Look
First Impressions
I’ve had my Strike Force Pro XD for just over 2 months now so I thought it would be a good time to write a full “Hands On” review of this trail camera.
I’ve owned several other Browning “Sub Micro Series” trail cameras before so the Pro XD seemed very familiar when it arrived in its bright yellow box.
On opening the box the camera looked very much like all the other Sub Micro trail cameras in Browning’s range except the fact that there were 2 camera lens staring back at me.
Of course I knew already that the XD Pro had 2 lenses as this is Browning’s latest innovation and the main reason I was so keen to try the camera out for myself.
Build quality
The camera immediately felt very solid in terms of build quality. The camera has a Oak style camo pattern with a matte finish. The lens, PIR sensor and LED emitters are well housed and I can’t see any problem with them getting displaced by average use.
The only weakness I can see in the build quality is the tree bracket hinge tightening nut. It’s made from quite brittle plastic, although having said that, on my other Browning trail cams, this component has stood the test of time. Maybe I’m not as hard wearing on my trail cams though as some.
Overall, The build quality gets a thumbs up from me.Unless you drop the camera from a height onto concrete I can’t see any failure in the components happening under general usage.
Set up
The Pro XD is very easy to set up. It comes with a small instruction booklet that’s easy to follow with simple steps. I have made a “quick start set up guide” video, (see below) if you prefer to watch videos rather than sit and read the manual.
Once you have filled the battery tray with 6 x AA batteries and placed an SD card into the SD card slot, your ready to power up the camera. Incidentally, I always use lithium batteries and prefer the Energizer Ultimate brand.
However, the supplied manual does say to use alkaline. I find alkaline batteries perform poorly compared to lithium batteries in trail cameras from my experience, hence my preference of the latter.
Menu settings
When switching the camera on, the 1.5 inch color viewing screen displays the Browning brand logo for several seconds followed by a live countdown from 10 seconds to zero. At zero the camera is live and ready to capture any movement in front of the PIR sensors.
During the live countdown to enter the settings menu is just a matter of pressing the small “M” button just to the lower right of the screen.
The menu is well laid out in a logical fashion and you navigate through the settings by using the 4 way keypad and “OK” button. Overall the menu and function keys work very well, plus the keys are backlit with a bright green.
Strike Force Pro XD Performance
The advertised spec of this camera looks very impressive on paper. A 0.15 second trigger speed, plus an 80 feet infrared motion detection range is very good by any standard.
The good news is that the camera does deliver results matching these figures. In fact I’d say the detection range is even further than the advertised 80ft, being over 90 ft from my experience. Impressive performance indeed.
Picture quality
The pictures for both day and night are really outstanding for a trail camera in my opinion. Especially the night time video. This is where you can see the massive benefit of having 2 lens dedicated to both day and night time.
Overall I found the Pro XD to be an outstanding performing trail camera, delivering great quality images.
Summary
I can see myself keeping my Strike Force Pro XD for a long time. I tend to move on my trail cameras after testing them but this trail cam is going to stay with me for a long time.
One small detail I particularly liked was the fact that the video is recorded in mp4 format. With other Browning trail cameras the video is in AVI format and being Apple Mac based it was a bit of a pain to process the video, so a thumbs up on the cross platform video format.
File sizes
The other point worth noting is that the video files are quite large in file size. A 20 second clip recorded in the Ultra mode is around 100 megabytes.
You may need to use larger size SD cards if you intend keeping the camera operational for long periods without an SD card swap over.
Browning have thought of this though and 512GD SDXC cards are compatible with the Pro XD.
So there you have it. In my opinion the Strike Force Pro XD is arguably one of the best trail cameras out there as of late 2020.
I pretty sure you won’t be disappointed if you do decide to purchase one as it makes a great worthwhile long term investment.
