Overboard Waterproof Kayak Deck Bag
This deck bag from Overboard has a 20 liter main compartment with a roll top closure system providing a waterproof storage space. The roll system uses a buckle to secure the opening from water ingress even when the bag is submerged.
Having a waterproof rating on this deck bag means there isn’t a need for placing gear inside a dry bag. This allows easy access to gear while out paddling.
In addition to the main storage space there is also a weatherproof zip pocket which is class 2 rated. Class 2 rating provides protection from water splashing over the deck of the kayak only.
Secure the Overboard to your kayak by using the 6 side buckle connectors for quick and secure fastening to the deck. My only criticism is the straps are a little too short for attaching to wider kayaks. This means you’ll need to use additional straps in this case.
In summary, for those looking for a basic deck bag with a fully waterproof enclosure this is a good option to go with. The main compartment has fully welded seams and the bag is made from durable 600D tarpaulin.
It comes with a shoulder strap too which means you can detach from the hull during a portage for example and carry it using the shoulder strap.

Chinook Aquawave 20 Kayak Deck Bag
As you can see from the pictures the Chinook Aquawave is a tapered design bag with a peak for easy access from the cockpit of the kayak. The bag has 20 liters of storage in the main compartment.
You can secure items and gear to the top of the bag using the bungee cords. This is really useful for storage of a water bottle or paddle float for example.
Attaching the deck bag to the hull of the kayak is just a matter of clipping the 4 buckles to bow lines or bungee cord on your kayak. It’s worth noting this bag is best suited to smaller kayaks as the bag dimensions are only 18 x 17 inches.
For easy carry on dry land there is a shoulder strap if you wish to carry the bag separately when making a portage between lakes and rivers.

Seattle Sports Deluxe 15L Kayak & Paddle Board Deck Bag
Seattle Sports [1] have made a really good utilitarian deck bag here. You’ll see that it’s made with a highly reflective silver material and sports a decent peak shaped main enclosure for quick access.
At the side of the bag are 2 quick release clips to hold a bilge pump or any other cylinder shaped piece of gear. On top is there’s the usual bungee rigging to hold down other essentials.
Being only splash proof, you will need a dry bag to ensure your gear stays dry in the event of a capsize or submerge.
This is a good option to go with if you just need a space to stowage your gear to keep the cockpit of the kayak clutter free.

Wisemen Trading Kayak Deck Bag
This is the budget option to go with here. The Wiseman Trading deck bag is a basic storage solution for your kayak.
There is the main compartment, plus a zip pocket on the underside of the bag. It’s worth noting this bag is not waterproof, only providing protection from water splashing across the bow when paddling.
Bungee cord is available on the upper service area of the bag for quick grab items when on the water, plus there’s a shoulder strap for easy carry to and from your vehicle.
The bag comes with the peak laid flat inside the bag, so you will have to set the plastic peak holder in place inside the bags main compartment prior to attaching it to your kayak.

Gearlab Deck Pod - Kayak Deck Bag
First off, this bag is not waterproof. The 450D fabric will stop splashes over the deck but you will need to place any gear vulnerable to water ingress inside a separate dry bag for protection from the elements.
Designed for those who are looking to spend hours paddling, this bag has a designated compartment for a 3 liter hydration bladder along with an external mesh pocket for the bite valve and drinking tube.
At the sides of the Deck Pod are two strap holders. One to hold a bilge pump and the other for a paddle float. Allowing quick access to grab and use the safety equipment while inside the cockpit of your kayak.
Attaching the bag to deck lines is made easy by using the 4 long quick release straps on each corner of the pod. In addition to the straps is a bright orange grab carry handle while on dry land.
The Deck Pod does have a lot of features for the serious day kayaker, it’s just a shame the main compartment isn’t waterproof like the Overboard deck bag.
