Best Selfie Sticks for Action Cameras

A selfie stick is not just great for taking selfies, it’s also a great way to record interesting angles and point of view shots when skiing, kayaking or a whole bunch of other sports or live action video events.

Along with an action camera gimbal, it is one of my most used accessories.

Today I want to take a look at what I think are some of the best selfie sticks for action cameras, ones that aren’t overly expensive, but are feature rich.

Matone Selfie Stick Tripod

I thought that this was one of the most genius inventions out there for an action camera. Ok, maybe not genius, but still pretty nifty.

It’s a 2-in-1 tripod and selfie stick, which I think comes in super handy.

Something which I thought was awesome about this thing is that it’s really lightweight, almost unnoticeable if I’m not thinking about it, plus it’s got a pretty nice grip, so it’s fairly easy to hold.

What I also noticed is that the Selfie Stick Tripod is actually quite durable, not like one of those cheap knockoffs you buy at some budget store.

I actually dropped it a few times, from pretty high up, and it managed to survive the fall, which did impress me. Now, the tripod isn’t all that stable, but I can live with it.

Telesin Selfie Stick Monopod For GoPro

Something I really like about the TELESIN Selfie Stick is that I can mount an action camera on top as well as a phone near the handle. Yeah, it might be a bit over the top, but I’m an over-the-top kind of guy, and recording two things at once seems pretty neat to me.

I also like how it is around 3 feet long when fully extended, so I can get some pretty nice group shots and panoramas going too.

It can technically convert into a tripod too, although I found that the legs are just too small to add any kind of stability to the mix, so I really wouldn’t use it as such.

That said, it’s a perfectly durable, affordable, and multi-use action camera selfie stick, and it gets the job done just fine.

Smatree X1 Foldable Pole Selfie Stick

Alright, so the Smatree Selfie Stick is one that I couldn’t leave out of this review. Just take a look at it and you’ll know exactly why.

It’s got 3 separate joints so it can move every which way, and I thought that this was pretty cool. You can fold it up or extend it in multiple ways, and in terms of convenience, I think it’s one of the very best options out there.

Now, on a side note, it does have some balance issues because it’s not a classic selfie stick, and it does take some getting used to, but it works well enough, and being able to adjust the direction in different ways is worth it, in my option.

The Smatree Selfie Stick itself seems to be pretty tough and durable, although it’s not like I tried dropping it.

Luxebell Selfie Stick Telescopic Pole

So, what I think to be by far the most convenient option on my review list today, the Luxebell Selfie Stick is really small and lightweight. I actually forgot that I had it in my pocket because it’s so unnoticeable.

The drawback however is that although it’s convenient to carry, I wouldn’t trust a large action camera to be very stable on it. Simply put, it’s probably not the most durable out of all selfie sticks out there.

It’s fine for kids and at-home use, and for small action cameras too, but I really wouldn’t trust it for sports or any kind of high-paced activity. It also doesn’t have a capture button on the handle, which isn’t fantastic.

CYNOVA Selfie Stick Tripod

Admittedly, this selfie stick only works with some GoPro cameras, and the Osmo Action cameras, but I have a GoPro, so it’s perfect for me. Something that really stood out about it is the high level of durability.

I’ve dropped this selfie stick in water, in the snow, and onto rocks from pretty high up, and as of now, it still works just fine.

I also like the easy-release clips so you can quickly extend and retract the various segments of this selfie stick, although I do have to say that they don’t always hold in place 100% of the time.

On the other hand, I like how the Cynova Selfie Stick is super lightweight, and the handle is very well designed. It’s easy and comfortable to hold, even for a pretty long time.

Final Thoughts

As long as the selfie stick in question can securely hold a camera, it’s easy to extend and retract, it’s lightweight and durable too, it’s a winner in my books.

Remember, these things don’t have to be fancy or expensive; they just have to get the job done.

A mini tripod is also a useful addition to your action camera filming bag. read my review on mini GoPro tripods to find out more.

If you’re interested in a budget action camera Campark 4K action cameras are certainly worth considering.
